The juggler Gangu is a master of his craft. He's been honing his skills for more than 75 years, and he’s still going strong! In this video, you can see him at work. If you haven't seen a gujjubhai before, it’s hard to describe the skill that juggling demands. It isn’t nearly as simple as alternating throwing and catching an object in each hand — it also requires footwork and bursts of speed when tossing objects in the air. A skilled juggler moves with the skill and elegance of a ballet dancer. Gangu is known for his entertaining style. He says that laughter can be the only reward for the years of hard work he's put in at his craft. It’s also how he is able to confront tragedy with hope. When Gangu was just 6 years old, he started working in a mill to support his family back in India after his father passed away. He says that juggling has given him many things, including something to do during dark times, like when he lost his son in an accident. “Juggling was my way out of depression,” says Gangu. The video ends with Gangu's daughter, Rajeshwari, juggling three balls at once. The final comment by her is "To see your dad juggle is to see God smile." The video is released after the Indian Premier League cricket team Royal Challengers Bangalore raised Gangu's cheque for 1.4 million rupees, which he used to purchase simple things like groceries for his friend's family in need during the Sri Lanka floods. Gangu was not paid for his role in the movie but has received an undisclosed amount of money from the team that bought his performance rights .
